St. Martins Country Inn ( St. Martins )
The opening of the first section of the Fundy Trail, to the east of St. Martins, has visitors flocking to view the majestic splendors of New Brunswick's Bay of Fundy coastline. Although the wonders of nature can not be overlooked, neither can the breath-taking beauty of a magnificent Heritage Home, The Country Inn. The trip through St. Martins leads past this renewed and revitalized landmark (known locally as The Castle). You can not fail spotting this landmark as you proceed through the tranquil village.
The manor was originally built by Captain William Vaughan and his wife Jane in 1857, patterned after a home seen by Jane on the French Riviera. The grandeur of her vision has been recaptured by the present owners, Myrna and Al LeClair. The LeClairs purchased this house in 1989 and, upon viewing the original plans, they set out to restore the manor. Their efforts have culminated in The Country Inn. Images abound on this site but even these, though worth thousands of words, can not capture the overall splendor, the Victorian luxuriousness of this Heritage Home.
